This was the first project I starting working on ten minutes after we first walked in the door after closing on the house: ripping up the orange shag carpeting on the stairs. The age and thickness of the carpet and padding beneath made for quite a trip hazard, so to be able to move things in safely, the carpet on the stairs was the first to go.
We still need to complete some repairs and repaint them, but I think they are already an improvement!
